A Secret Place
This print's abstract composition is a hypnotic yet tranquil pattern of swirling shapes. The artist employs the rigid form of a grid to examine the intricacies and minutiae of organic forms. Santibañez layers forms drawn from nature to imbue every inch of the canvas with its own expressive quality—asking viewers to contemplate each form as its own entity while at the same time experiencing how the composition comes together as a whole.
Of her work, Santibañez says: "I’ve been exploring the idea of a spiral for over 15 years. I want [my work] to address a concept of chaos in politics, climate change and psychology."
