Aylward creates instantly classic compositions that combine humor and pop savvy with the bizarre and macabre—ranging in subject from Donald Duck taking a toke to parachuting skulls.
BIO:
Derek Aylward was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1976. The artist attended The Art Institute of Boston in Massachusetts from 1997–1999.
A solo exhibition of Aylward’s work took place at SHRINE in New York City in 2021.
Group exhibitions that have shown Aylward’s work have taken place at: V1 Gallery in Copenhagen, Denmark; Sorry We’re Closed in Brussels, Belgium; Blum & Poe in Los Angeles, California; and Nassima-Landau in Tel Aviv, Israel.
