③ Artist:

Aneta Bartos

Aneta Bartos’ photography blurs physical and imagined worlds, capturing the surreal space between memory and fiction. Her work frequently reimagines how both figures and desire are represented, exploring the rebellious act of a body becoming self-aware and enjoying its own sexuality. Bartos frequently depicts her subjects in uninhibited poses inside fantastical dreamscapes.

Aneta Bartos was born in Poland, moving to New York City at the age of 16 to live with her mother. She received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

Exhibitions showing Bartos’ work include: NSFW: Female Gaze at the Museum of Sex in New York City (2013); Family Portrait at Postmasters Gallery in New York City (2017); and Masculinities: Liberation through Photography at the Barbican Centre in London, UK, and also at Martin Gropiu-Bau in Berlin, Germany (2020); among others.
