About:

Tappeto Volante opened its doors in September 2020 amidst the economic fallout caused by the COVID-19 pandemic that disproportionately impacted the arts sector. Curator Paola Gallio, in collaboration with artists Jared Deery, JJ Manford, and Elisa Soliven, sought to provide visibility and support for underrepresented artists, performers, and emerging curators. Under Gallio's direction, Tappeto Volante serves as a community hub, residency program, and multidisciplinary performance space. Meaning "flying carpet" in Italian, Tappeto Volante celebrates the resilience of the art community with a commitment to inclusivity, gender equality, and BIPOC empowerment. The project is rooted in the shared vision of its founders to build and sustain a vibrant art community by sharing stories, inspiring reflection, generating social capital, and strengthening a diverse, multicultural, and multidisciplinary art network that connects gallerists, artists, and curators.
