MICHELE C. QUINN

The Las Vegas-based art advisor Michele C. Quinn talks about her favorite works in the October selection on Platform.

In their own words

Michele began her 25 + year career in the heart of New York art world working as the Director of Brooke Alexander Gallery and Sr. Specialist at Christies print department. The last 17 years have been spent creating her business as a private advisor to some of the largest corporations and private collections on the West Coast.  She has advised on emerging collections that start at $5,000 all the way up to developing $40m corporate collections.  While some of her favorite projects have included commissioning artists such as Jenny Holzer, Maya Lin and Yayoi Kusama, it has been working with the private collectors and finding works that drive their joy and passions that has made her career meaningful.   At the forefront of her collecting philosophy is guiding clients on quality, while helping to develop their passion and knowledge about the art itself.

Sheena Rose, Modern Art Lovers
Acrylic on canvas, 20.0 × 24.0 inches, 2022. $5500

Sheena Rose has such a command of her use of color and shape, while the “pattern and decoration” elements of the work help to create a vibrant and energetic space. Browse the work.

Ezra Johnson, Lilies with Books
Oil on linen, 26.0 × 23.0 inches, 2022. $5500

As many young painters are leaning towards a reinvention of representational landscape and still life, the works by Corey Ruecker and Ezra Johnson each stand out as being both complex and rich in its representation of color and form, yet they both allude toward abstraction at the same time. Edward Givis, Untitled (hammer)
Graphite on paper, 22.0 × 30.0 inches, 2022. $3600

With Edward Givis, similar to Robert Longo, there is a strong use of graphite and hyper realism in this work, but also the extreme focus on the detail of the object allows the work to be both abstract and representational simultaneously. Browse the work.
