This painting features a lush fruit tree bearing oranges, an object that is a popular recurring motif throughout Mrozowski’s work. In this composition, the oranges are depicted with a range of subtle variations. Some of the spheres have a deliberately ambiguous relationship to the pictorial space established elsewhere in the painting, whereas other oranges are comparatively integrated into the rendered foliage. Mrozowski's work explores the many assumptions inherent in visual perception. He draws the viewer's attention to the omission of minute details in otherwise lush and repetitive patterned works.

BIO:
Ryan Mrozowski was born in 1981. He received his MFA in 2005 from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and he holds a BFA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
