The body swimming in itself
Green’s Space Poem series is made up of staggered hanging banners. She began the series in 2007, and has expanded it to include seven installations. Space Poem #2 is the first-ever Space Poem to be translated into deftly-printed silkscreens. Generally printed on industrially produced banners, here the panels' colors are returned to highly-concentrated and sharply-defined pigments.
Space Poem #2 is composed of thirty-three silkscreens. Seen together, they unfurl a poem by Laura Riding Jackson across the brightly colored prints. Each of the poem’s lines is extracted from its original context and given new meaning through formal constraints of typography and hue. The poem, There is No Land Yet, explores themes of discovery, land and islands.
