Sophie (March)
In his Gardens series, the artist has created paintings of each of the twelve months of the year based on their colors and temperament. The nature in these works symbolizes important women in the artist’s life, and intentionally takes up more space than the recurring male figure. The feminine charms of each pastoral scene seem to have frozen him in reverie, wandering through memories of the past.
Rasmus Eckhardt creates ethereal artworks with soft pastels on wood based on his experiences and internal reflections of people and places. Soft, hazy scenes of muted locations and figures emit a familiarity yet profound universality. His self-identified wanderers—lost in the solitude of nature—often evoke paradoxical feelings of both longing and peace.

Rasmus Eckhardt creates ethereal artworks with soft pastels on wood based on his experiences and internal reflections of people he sees or meets in passing. Soft, hazy scenes unfold in his hands, presenting muted locations and figures that eschew individual identity in favor of a profound universality. Yet, his characters somehow feel familiar despite their diffuse and ethereal renderings. Meanwhile, the male figures wandering through these works—lost in the solitude of nature—often evoke paradoxical feelings of both longing and peace.
Rasmus Eckhardt was born in 1982 in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he lives.
He has mounted solo exhibitions at CCA Andratx in Illes Balears, Spain (2023); SHRINE in New York City, NY (2022); The Plan in Copenhagen, Denmark (2022); Sandberg Galleri in Odense, Denmark (2021); and Benoni Gallery in Copenhagen, Denmark (2020).
