① Artwork:
Open Air Garage with Early Yellow Moon
This painting depicts a familiar upstate New York view: the beautiful remains of an old building below a daylit moon on an autumn day. Through golden tones and rich brushwork, the artist references her own move upstate as a search for comfort and solitude through timeworn buildings and the glory of nature.

③ Artist:
Polly Shindler creates the living spaces in her paintings from a combination of her imagination and sourced imagery. Drawn from a deep desire for solitude and retreat, Shindler stacks her artworks with colors, patterns, and textures that reference the history of art and architecture, from a Louis XIV-style settee to a Jasper Johns painting. More recently, she has added the influence of outdoor views to her intimate rooms as she continues exploring ideas surrounding the value of personal space, an interest in location and the idiosyncrasies of place.
