③ Artist:
Mark Ryan Chariker’s work is a deeply personal response to the practice of painting. After abandoning an earlier abstract style, he started employing oil paints to explore landscape and figuration rendered in exacting color combinations. His work depicts modern figures in out-of-time settings, placing them in compositions that reference French rococo paintings, 19th-century illustrations and the Old Masters, among others.
