This composition draws on imagery from a reservoir located in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. In her compositions, Bialke uses a meticulous technique to make simplified motifs more complex—creating a world where trees and figures search for meaning and connection in one another.

Madeleine Bialke

New York-based Madeleine Bialke’s post-apocalyptic landscapes are scenes from tragicomic tales about the decline of forests in the last century. The artist’s compositions make simple motifs more complex through the use of meticulous detail, frequently drawing their imagery from a reservoir in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. Bialke creates a world where trees and figures are equal actors and look to one another in search of meaning and connection.

BIO:

Madeleine Bialke was born in 1991. 

The artist’s work was featured as an online solo exhibition with Taymour Grahne Projects in London, UK in 2021. Other solo presentations have taken place at: Visions West Contemporary in Denver, Colorado (2020); Deanna Evans Projects in Brooklyn, New York (2020); Harper’s East Hampton in East Hampton, New York (2019); and North Western Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma (2018).

The artist has participated in two-person exhibitions at: Greenpoint Terminal Gallery in Brooklyn, New York (2020); Greene House in Brooklyn, New York (2019); and SPRING/BREAK Art Show in New York City (2019).
