I Got Skeleton Bones of Titanium
This oil and acrylic painting was inspired by the fusion of jazz and hip-hop, as in the song by the modern jazz ensemble BADBADNOTGOOD and rapper Ghostface Killah from which it takes its title. To Robinson, it represents the strength in the combination of multiple elements, both analogous and literal.
Justin Robinson uses an abstract visual vocabulary to hint at childhood nostalgia, inviting viewers on his ongoing personal journey of exploring youthful memories. To express his mental and emotional states, the artist has formed an intuitive style that involves repeatedly experimenting with brushstrokes and color.

③ Artist:
Through color, shape, and texture, Justin Robinson uses an abstract visual vocabulary to hint at nostalgic memories from his childhood. The artist has formed an intuitive style based on changes in his environment, studio interior, and mental or emotional states. After beginning with a drawn armature of oil stick or acrylic paint, he employs a range of acrylic and oil marks that evolve from piece to piece and series to series. Profoundly influenced by his time as a studio assistant for the internationally acclaimed painter Eddie Martinez, Robinson continually experiments with layering techniques and combinations of colors.
Justin Robinson was born in New York City, NY, and lives in Brooklyn, NY. He studied Studio Art at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY.
