① Artwork:
Floral #9
These paintings are part of the artist’s ongoing series exploring surreal floral imagery, helping to extend the boundaries of his figurative language. Cole sources his reference material from gardens and parks across New York City, allowing him to foster a sense of intimacy in the paintings.
Justin Cole’s art touches upon the human condition, levels of consciousness, and death. He illustrates these themes by combining figurative realism with tropes from Abstract Expressionism. His paintings almost exclusively focus on one subject, but when you study his paintings further, subtleties emerge.
