① Artwork:
The Poet's Desk
This painting uses loose brushwork of thin, vibrant paint to depict a desk at a window where the poet perceives the world. The experience of being in the world is reflected onto the poet's paper.
James Morse’s paintings use land imagery as a language to explore the imperfections of human creativity and labor. The artist creates studies while on-site and later transforms these studies into expressive landscape paintings that embrace the interpretive nature of life. Drawing inspiration from abstract expressionist painters such as Lois Dodd and Jane Freilicher, Morse’s paintings contemplate the vicissitudes of humanity on the natural world.
