XXL Big Jar (4)
Rower’s work is interested in the mythic hidden lineage embedded in household objects. Isabel entirely hand sculpted this large vessel, using the jars found in Dutch still lives and Morandi paintings as a point of departure.
Isabel Rower (b. 1998, New York) studied Furniture Design at RISD, Providence, RI. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Working primarily with pigmented clay, Rower’s practice blurs conventional boundaries between functionality and adornment. The work swings from sculptural and formalist to whimsical and pragmatic.
