Gwendolyn Zabicki’s paintings depict the nearly invisible mundane views or events that comprise “being alive.” Through painting, she has learned to see, but most importantly, by looking closely, she has taught herself and us to care more deeply about the inherent beauty of the everyday.

③ Artist:
Gwendolyn Zabicki's paintings focus on nearly invisible, quotidian moments—the people and events that make up a large part of being alive. Through her painting practice, Zabicki has learned to notice the hue, saturation, and value of the everyday objects around her. But most importantly, by looking closely, Zabicki has taught herself to care more deeply about ordinary things, and her paintings, in turn, encourage viewers to embrace the pleasures of the mundane.
