③ Artist:

Dabin Ahn

Dabin Ahn is a painter, sculptor and installation artist. Blurring the boundary between two and three dimensions, Ahn frequently strives for balance. Ahn’s recent work captures the poetics emanating from classic Korean vessels with vigorous precision. The artist projects the intangible realm onto the material world with these objects, which he sometimes presents in fragments. Casting them in extraordinary light, Ahn gestures towards the imperceptible terrains of memory, emotion, and transition. The works are arresting yet melancholic portraits of ephemerality.

Dabin Ahn was born in 1988 in Seoul, Korea, and currently lives in Chicago, IL. He received a BFA (2017) and an MFA (2020) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Ahn’s solo exhibition “Good Things Take Time” is currently on view at Harper’s (NY) and runs through December 7, 2024.
