① Artwork:
Cock’s Crow
This painting depicts the torso of a nude figure whose breasts are being pinched by another figure—seen only as two hands, as the rest of their body is beyond the picture frame. The action is both overtly sexual and also playful; the darkness of the pinching hands contrasts sharply with the pale tan lines of the nude torso. The blue sky background is adorned in the corner by a lone yellow sun—intimating a tropical or beach scene.
The artist's narrative paintings explore eroticism with humor and intimacy, combining motifs and tropes from art history with contemporary aesthetics. Lamb's works overlay transgressive topics onto everyday scenes, reengaging viewers with the core experiences humans share across identities and idiosyncrasies.
