Amelia Briggs is an artist working with fiber, painting, and installation to illustrate the complexities of our interior landscape. She translates feeling into sinuous, gestural forms that relate to our bodies and the natural world. These forms appear to embrace, elevate, caress, and reinforce, and their subtle color changes indicate a process of growth within a firm boundary.

New York City-based Amelia Briggs earned her MFA in Visual Art from The University of Memphis in Memphis, TN (2015) and her BFA in Visual Art from the Herron School of Art and Design at Indiana University in Indianapolis, IN (2009).

She has mounted solo and two-person exhibitions at Foyer in Athens, GA; Red Arrow Gallery in Nashville, TN; CACHE Famous Storefront in Springdale, AR; Eve Leibe Gallery in London, UK; Leu Center for the Visual Arts at Belmont University in Nashville, TN; and elsewhere.

Briggs has participated in group exhibitions at Blah Blah Gallery in Philadelphia, PA; LVMH Culture House in Miami, FL; The High Line Nine in New York City, NY; Boston University galleries in Boston, MA; The Hole in Los Angeles, CA; Galleri Urbane in Dallas, TX, and at others.

She has completed residencies at Wassaic Project in Wassaic, NY; Monson Arts in Monson, ME; and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN.

Her work has been featured in publications such as Forbes, The New York Times, Boston Art Review, Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, Artforum, Domino Magazine, New American Paintings, Art Maze Magazine, Surface Magazine, and Contemporary Art Review LA.

Her art is in the public collections of Soho House, The Four Seasons, The Art Museum at The University of Memphis, and others.
