Bill Traylor
Bill Traylor (1853–1949) was a self-taught artist whose remarkable body of work offers a vivid, unfiltered glimpse into the life and rhythms of the American South. Born into slavery on an Alabama plantation, Traylor lived through Reconstruction, segregation, and the Great Migration, all while carrying an unshaken sense of observation and storytelling.
